1. Forrest quits
Following revelations that he had improperly intervened in the recruitment process at the Spectrum Management Authority (SMA), a chaste Trevor Forrest resigned as board chairman yesterday. “… I sincerely regret any damage my actions may have caused to the reputation of the agency or Government of Jamaica,” Forrest said in his resignation letter, submitted to Prime Minister Andrew Holness yesterday. 2. Wheatley replacement not named yet
Leader of the Opposition Dr Peter Phillips is urging Prime Minister Andrew Holness to tell the nation who will take on the ministerial responsibilities that were held by Dr Andrew Wheatley. According to Phillips, adequate time has now passed since the resignation of Wheatley as minister of science and technology for Holness to share information regarding his replacement and future direction and control of the ministry. 3. All in place for Denbigh show
Outgoing president of the Jamaica Agricultural Society (JAS), Norman Grant, is reporting that all is in place for the 66th staging of the Denbigh Agricultural, Industrial and Food Show. The annual event will be held on the Denbigh Showground, May Pen, Clarendon, from August 4-6, under the theme ‘Grow What You Eat … Eat What You Grow: Agriculture Securing our Future’. 4. CRH to be fully operational in a year

National senior men’s coach, Theodore Whitmore, has expressed some concern about the readiness of his squad one month before the CONCACAF Nations League kicks off. “We have the Nations League coming up and personally, I don’t like what is happening,” Whitmore told The Gleaner yesterday. 6. Police, soldiers deployed to dump sites
The Local Government Ministry is reporting that police and soldiers are now protecting personnel and disposal sites island-wide following threats to responders trying to put out recent fires.
