1. Ja, Namibia agree to visa waiver programme

Jamaicans travelling to the Republic of Namibia for business or tourism will not need a visa to do so. The two governments on Monday morning agreed to a visa waiver programme, the first of several agreements between both countries, as Prime Minister Andrew Holness began a full day of discussions with the Namibian President Dr Hage Geingob. See full story on The Gleaner’s website.

2. US$93k seized, 3 foreigners arrested

Three foreigners who allegedly attempted to leave the island with US$93,000 remain in custody after being arrested at the Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston. The three persons, two from Suriname and the other from French Guiana, were held about 2:45 yesterday afternoon as they attempted to board a flight to Guyana. See full story on The Gleaner’s website.

Criminals are wreaking havoc in the Jamaica Customs Agency, and the assistant superintendent of police assigned to the Counter-Terrorism and Organised Crime Investigation Branch (C-TOC), Victor Barrett, has warned that the integrity of that organisation is in jeopardy. See full story on The Gleaner’s website.

4. Two arrested after decomposing body found in Mona

Two men, a Jamaican and a Trinidadian, are now in custody as the police probe the gruesome find of a partially decomposed body in an apartment on Whalley Close in Mona, St Andrew. The police are awaiting the DNA results to establish the identity of the victim. 5. Waterhouse tense again?

Sections of the Balcombe Drive community in St Andrew are again cowering in fear following the murder of a man and the shooting of another in less than a week by rivalling thugs from the area. Head of the St Andrew South Police Station, Superintendent Gary Francis, told The Gleaner that the dead man, identified as Tennisto Davis, 24, was ambushed and shot on Primrose Drive last Thursday. See full story on The Gleaner’s website.
